Meet the Parents
Chase, our male, is loved by everyone. He is extremely affectionate with everyone, and will always snuggle up to anyone willing to give him a cuddle. Outside he lives up to his name by chasing sticks, balls and anything that moves; birds flying across an open field provide endless exercise and entertainment. Inside he just wants to be where his people are, day and night. He is extraordinarily adept at playing soccer with his nose, and is respectfully subservient to Tassie and our cats.
Tassie is a character! When we first got her at the age of 6 months, she had not been socialized at all. But now she loves people, is a fantastic mother to her pups, and exhibits the high levels of athleticism and intelligence of pure kelpies. She is a great guardian for chickens, provides the home with a free alarm service, and is safe and gentle with people, and very articulate about what she wants.

MEET THEIR PUPPIES
Kelpies are intelligent, highly trainable dogs that are great with people. They are high energy, playful dogs that love all activities, but are equally happy to cuddle on the couch |
Are you thinking of getting a Kelpie as a pet?
Kelpies love being part of a family and create strong bonds with people and love getting attention. Our Kelpies have been socialized since birth with children and other animals (cats, chickens, cows, other dogs). Their intelligence and desire to please make them very trainable, but they do need strong owners who can give them the time, exercise and leadership they need. If you have other animals that do not like being herded, you may want to consider another breed (fyi, our chicken and cats are all fine with our dogs!).
They are low shedding and don't drool, and provide excellent doorbell services. They will bark when people come to the door, but are always friendly with everyone.
Are you thinking of getting a Kelpie as a working dog?
A working Kelpie can be a cheap and efficient worker that can save farmers and graziers the cost of several hands when mustering livestock. Working Kelpies are herding dogs that have natural instincts for managing livestock. They will work sheep, cattle, goats, pigs, poultry, and other domestic livestock. A good working Kelpie is a versatile dog – they can work all day on the farm, ranch, or station, and trial on the weekends.
